When it gets longer it mushrooms which can cause smoking. Extinguish the candle, trim and relight. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTo extinguish your candle dip the wick into the liquid wax, this can be done with a stick (I use an ice cream stick). Just dunk the flame and then stand it up again. If the wax has dried I have placed a paper towel over it and then ironed it.
